FC Minneapolis to face FC Wichita in a friendly match this summer in Kansas.

FC Minneapolis and FC Wichita today announced the clubs’ first ever friendly to be played at the Stryker Complex on  June 14, 2017, in Wichita, Ks.

FC Wichita is an American soccer club based in Wichita, Kansas and founded in 2013. They compete in the South Central Conference of the South Region of the National Premier Soccer League and became the 2015 South Central Conference Champions after finishing 11-3 in their inaugural season.

In a brief statement released by FC Wichita today, club CEO Blake Shumaker said that they are pleased to begin a relationship with FC Minneapolis that they believe will continue to grow.

“They operate a bit out of the norm, and we liked their unique vision. They see great value in doing day to day business without league mandates and regulations. Most top professional leagues require clubs to play with limitations of a salary cap and a maximum number of international players under contract. So they are seeking friendlies against teams that they feel can help their players be identified in the states.” Added Mr. Shumaker.

According to the club’s latest announcement, FC Wichita plans to operate two men’s teams in 2018, and this agreement would see FC Minneapolis competing against both the FC Wichita professional, and amateur team and while the professionals will all be paid, the amateur side will consist of collegiate and youth academy players who wish to maintain their college eligibility.

FC Minneapolis is expected to finalize its 2017 schedule by March 24th.

Tickets for the match will go on sale April 15th, but will also be included in the season ticket package which goes on sale on March 20th.
