Uganda’s Sendi promises come back after club’s disappointing pre-season campaign!

Ian Sendi has experienced highly successful seasons at FC Minneapolis and know what it takes, and while there is much regret over the results in the campaign just completed, there is an eagerness to quickly put matters right.

‘The pre-season has not been good at all, it has obviously been disappointing and hasn’t gone to plan for us, ‘said Sendi, ‘but all we can do now is go again this summer season.

‘We know it is unacceptable for a club like FC Minneapolis to have a pre-season like we have had this year. We take this bad taste in the mouth into this summer because we don’t want to have it again. We don’t want to have a period of playing football matches for nothing. It is the worst feeling ever so we need to remember this time. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and we need to be stronger for this.’

Varney Cole is drawing confidence from some improved showings by the team in the starting weeks.

‘We have played a couple of good games,’ said the right winger, ‘even if we didn’t get the victory recently at Minnesota United. They were the victors and that was a good performance but we were not able to get the win, but this is something we can build on and start this season in a strong way.

‘Now the focus is on this Saturday’s game and then all of us will have our heads on games ahead. We will come back and start a new era with new tactics and methods and in the end we have to win, so we are all looking forward after a disappointing pre-season to do a great season this summer.’
