Open Position – Director of High Performance

FC Minneapolis is a Minnesota-based Premier Club of the United Premier Soccer League devoted to providing an outstanding on-field product as well as a memorable game-day experience.

Striving to maintain high-level football/soccer and entertainment for residents of Osseo, and surrounding communities, FC Minneapolis’ long-term vision is to be a team of accountable, transparent, decent, just, and professional men and women known for going beyond the game.

The club’s mission is to provide a quality, accessible and equitable pathway to professional football for all players in the United States. We do this by ensuring our players have access to quality playing platforms where they can showcase their talents to both local and international football markets.

Founded in June of 2013, FC Minneapolis participated in the Minnesota Recreation Soccer League during the summer of 2014, participated in the now-defunct American Premier League as one of the founding members in 2015 and 16, becoming the first league Champion in 2015, and operated as an Independent club playing exhibition matches locally and across the Midwest in 2017.

In the spring of 2018, FC Minneapolis joined the United Premier Soccer League, a 4th division league with over 300 teams nationwide, and is currently the longest standing member of the UPSL in the Minnesota.

About The Position

The High-Performance Director is responsible for creating and delivering a high-performing strategy that enhances the performance environment of all team players. This person will lead, integrate, and provide the team with high-performance requirements for player injury prevention, strengthening, and conditioning programs. This individual will manage and oversee all staff under the High-Performance Department. In addition, he/she will contribute to the performance programs for Coaching Education and Refereeing.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Create the overall high-performance strategy, policies, and procedures for the team.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, General Manager, Head Coach, and other members of the Technical Staff to support and maximize the athletic potential of players in line with the Club’s Mission and Technical Plan.
  • Lead the team’s programming (nutrition, sleep, recovery, strength, and conditioning, mental conditioning, etc.) and collaborate with any available experts in their field to oversee the implementation of this programming.
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting on all performance data
  • Serve as High-Performance content creator and educator for Coach Education, Player Development, and Referee programs
  • Lead all aspects of the team’s athletic performance assessment and monitoring processes.
  • Interpret player data along with general movement observations to build detailed strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention training requirements
  • Analyze and interpret complex information to share with Technical Staff, Head Coach, and players
  • Collaborate with the team’s Medical Officer, develop and execute fundamental sports science and sports medicine processes, including monitoring and management of player workloads and recovery
  • Contribute to the development and communication of corrective, rehabilitation, and return-to-play programs
  • Assist in the evaluation of player movement performance and proficiency
  • Develop soccer-oriented practical solutions based on individual and team data analysis (GPS, wellness, testing, etc.)
  • Monitor player nutrition as guided by the team’s nutrition plan.


Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Proven history of providing top class feedback, reporting, and analysis across various projects
  • Vast knowledge of medical equipment, technology, and performance aspects within soccer
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), Athlete Management System, GPS, and Video Editing
  • Strong verbal, written, in-person presentation, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, data collection, planning, and leadership skills
  • Experience working in collaboration with sport science, sport medicine, and other support staff
  • Education background in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, or a related field
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
