Persistent injuries bring Takan’s promising career to unexpected end!

The Ugandan full-forward informed the club’s management and technical staff this week that he has decided to retire from competitive football due to persistent and reoccurring injuries that have prevented him from reaching his full potential since joining the club.

Aaron Takan who joined FC Minneapolis in the spring of 2016, has had several seasons of success with the City Lions and he is currently the second longest-serving member of our organization.

The 28-year-old was part of the playing squad that reached the 2019 finals and the 2020 semifinals of the Minnesota Fall Cup.

In 2021, he was part of the FC Minneapolis squad that made it to the Regional Finals of the US National Cup and made it to the United Premier Soccer League division semifinals, and the Champions of Regions semifinals that same year.

In 2022 the Ugandan full forward was also part of the City Lions playing squad that made it to the UPSL division semi-finals and that won the Minnesota Fall Cup in the same season.

““It may not be possible to find a player like Aaron, and as a coach, I believe I have been exceptionally blessed to have coached him and gotten to know him more on a personal level. His commitment, discipline, faith, and ability are unrivaled, and it’s such a shame that injuries have robbed our game of such a beautiful player. We all wish him a great retirement and a fulfilling life outside football.” Said David Oluwalaanu.

Like all our exceptional players, Aaron will always be welcome at FC Minneapolis in any capacity that he sees fit.
