FC Minneapolis is proud to announce the arrival of Xavier Ortiz to the club ahead of the 2026 season.
Xavier joins the City Lions with a strong soccer background shaped by years of hard work, discipline, and steady development through respected youth programs in Minnesota. He began playing the game at the age of four and has continued to grow each year with a clear desire to improve and compete at a higher level.

By the age of eight, Xavier had already entered the club soccer environment, where he focused on building his footwork, stamina, and overall technical ability. As his game progressed, he gained valuable experience with different teams, including St. Paul Blackhawks Black, where he continued to strengthen important parts of his game such as defending and passing while playing center back.
He later continued his development with Bloomington United, which transitioned into Sporting Minnesota, while also competing with St. Croix ECNL, where he has spent the past three years. His journey reflects consistency, adaptability, and a strong commitment to his growth as a player.
Xavier is a versatile player who is most comfortable as a winger and central midfielder, while also being able to contribute as an outside back when needed. He brings quality on the ball, composure, spatial awareness, vision, and the ability to use his right foot effectively in a variety of situations.

Born on June 15, 2008, Xavier comes to FC Minneapolis with a strong mindset and clear goals for the season. He is looking to continue improving his all-around game while adjusting to the demands of competing in a more challenging environment.
Everyone at FC Minneapolis is excited to welcome Xavier to the club and support him in this next stage of his journey. His technical quality, versatility, and hunger to keep improving make him an exciting addition to the squad as the club continues building for the future.
Welcome to FC Minneapolis, Xavier Ortiz.
