Minnetonka, MN – In an exciting development for FC Minneapolis, the club has officially announced the appointment of Keith Bleyer as the new Head Coach for the Premier program. Bleyer, who joined the City Lions last summer as David Oluwalaanu’s assistant during the previous UPSL campaign, steps into his new role following Oluwalaanu’s promotion to an administrative position.
Bleyer’s Credentials and Experience
Bleyer brings a wealth of experience and notable qualifications to his new position. He holds the highest certifications available to coaches, including a US Soccer National A Coaching License (earned on three separate occasions) and United Soccer Coaches National Premier and Director of Coaching Diplomas.
Before joining the City Lions, Bleyer spent seven successful years in the Seattle area, leading both college and club teams. Most recently, he served as the head coach at Green River College, where he revitalized the women’s program after a two-year hiatus, recruiting over 20 players in just six months. Under his leadership, the Gators achieved ten victories over two seasons, with eight players earning All-NWAC honors.
Bleyer’s impressive résumé also includes stints as a director and head coach at top Seattle area clubs Valor Soccer, Pacific Northwest, and ISC Gunners. Additionally, he has managed clubs in Oregon and Colorado. Currently, he is also the head coach of North Central University.
A Storied Playing and Broadcasting Career
As a player, Bleyer was a member of the Under 16 USA Youth National Team pool and was recognized as one of the nation’s ‘Top 50’ prep recruits by Soccer America magazine. He went on to play NCAA Division 1 soccer at Santa Clara University, where he earned a BA degree in Communications. Beyond the pitch, Bleyer has had a distinguished career as a radio and TV broadcaster for Major League Soccer teams, most recently serving as a radio analyst for the Portland Timbers.

Excitement for the Future
The club is enthusiastic about the changes Bleyer will bring to the City Lions table this season. With his extensive coaching experience and stellar credentials, the future looks bright for FC Minneapolis under his guidance.
“Keith’s appointment as Head Coach marks a significant step forward for our club,” said a representative from FC Minneapolis. “We are thrilled to see the positive impact he will have on our Premier program and look forward to an exciting season ahead.”
Keith Bleyer has been married to his wife Kelly since 1996, and they are the proud parents of twins Lauren and Evan. Notably, Evan is a current NCAA D3 student-athlete in Oregon and will be joining FC Minneapolis this summer.
