Following yesterday’s meeting at the Osseo Area Schools District in Maple Grove; FC Minneapolis announced that they will be officially relocating to the City of Brooklyn Park beginning April 1st.
The purpose of the meeting that started at 10:00 am at the District’s office was to finalize rental agreements for the use of the Pride Stadium of Park Center High School located at the border of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park.
FC Minneapolis has moved quite a lot in the past in an effort to find a community they can call home but the club officials believe this move to the Park is potentially the one to end all moves.
FC Minneapolis began training from Brooklyn Park at North Hennepin Community College in the Fall of 2016 and have since enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the college and this move will allow them to concentrate all their activities within one community which the club believes will be of greater benefits towards their growth.
“Our goal is to build a community-backed club one fan at a time,” Said Ian Sendi.
In a recent study by the City of Brooklyn Park, out of their 80,000 plus residents, a quarter are from Asian, a quarter from Africa, 45% Caucasian and 5% Latino.
This diverse nature of the City gives an opportunity for FC Minneapolis to tap into a soccer enthusiastic community that has not yet been served with a high-quality product.
FC Minneapolis will be launching it’s independent nonprofit supporters’ group on April 22nd which will allow community members to get ownership in the club through their group memberships.
