The City Lions had an incredibly attacking game, maintaining possession and trying for goal multiple times but they were unable to find the back of the net except for once when the 18 year old Liberian midfielder James Brent dribbled through the Twin Stars defense in the second half and scored the only goal on the visitors’ score sheet making it 3-1 by full time.
Unlike previously, where FC Minneapolis has relied on their famous 4-3-3, the City Lions shaped themselves today in a 4-2-3-1 system mainly due to the fact that almost all their starting back line is currently sidelined due to persistent injuries and the 2 defensive mids would help provide an extra layer of defense to a currently struggling back line.
“We had multiple chances today that we failed to convert and we are all going to have to deal with that going forward but our hosts used their few chances. In general though, we had a great game. The team moved well with the ball and created many chances something that we have been working on collectively. Now we have to take our lessons from this defeat and find a way to move forward.” Said Ian Sendi after the game.
The City Lions will be returning to their training ground tomorrow for one more week before officially closing their season this coming Friday.
