After months of being sidelined due to a broken ulna bone, the City Lions captain and defensive mid Brownell Jr. is set to return tonight in the club’s first preseason match of the United Premier Soccer League against Vlora City FC at the HealthEast Sports Center in Woodbury.
“This is a very special occasion for me.” The captain said today in a video interview. “It’s been very tough not being able to play but I thank God for healing me and allowing me to return better and stronger.” He added.
He went on to appreciate the club’s doctor Nicholas Moe for giving him the best treatment possible and for being there for him during such a tough time. He also expressed his gratitude to his teammates and coaches who never left his side during the recovery period.
The Liberian middle fielder is one of the few players called back by Ian Sendi to today’s preseason friendly and it’s very likely that he may make the squad.
