Known for his acute turns and clinical finishing, Darius Sango finished the 2015 season as the League’s top scorer with 12 goals in 8 games. The 23 year Liberian forward scored his first APL goal in the league’s opener between FC Minneapolis and Minnesota when he received a well powered cross from Ian Sendi in the first minutes of the first half at the Hopkins HS Stadium last Summer.
Sango scored in almost every game of the season and as much as he was held back by ankle injuries sometimes, the youthful goal scoring machine couldn’t give in. He kept on his scoring routine until when the American Premier League recognized him as the 2015 Golden Boot Winner at the end of the Season after the City Lions’ victory over Midnimo in St Louis Park.
“The boy is ready and much better technically than he has ever been.” Said Varney Cole. “He is ready to prove to Minnesota and the rest of America that he is one of the best strikers in the League and with that there’s no doubt.” Added the Head Coach.
Darius who has found a good partnership upfront with Ian Sendi and Abunyanyi Lual – the club’s spring signing, believes he has what it takes to defend his title as the leading goal scorer in the league.
“I am ready to compete, I have great players around me and I play for a great club. I see no reason why I shouldn’t succeed this season” The Liberian told the club media today evening in a brief statement.
