After finalizing his deal with the club on Thursday this week, the former Mbarara City FC, and Ugandan born Full Forward Nathaniel Atamba walked onto the City Lions’ turf today cladded with the blue and white garb of the FC Minneapolis senior team, confirming to the watching fans that he is ready for his newly found duty.
In the first half, Atamba played as a right forward with Rolando Barclay in the Center and Lorestho Banks in the left forward position.
Elsewhere, James Brent, and Ian Sendi covered the attacking mid roles, Leon Brownell held the middle and the back line structured itself with Emmanuel Morris, and Amoah Kwaku as full backs, and Nicholas Yomie, and Eric Swen as Center Backs. Ayodele Gafar manned the goal.
On the bench, FC Minneapolis had Cyril Kai, Emmanuel Togar, Jude Woode, Moise Damey, Watson Zaris, Jewel Arthur, Miracle Lawrence, and Frederick Morlu.
In less than 5 minutes, Nathaniel Atamba had put the club ahead with a 1:0 lead after scoring beautifully from James Brent’s assist. Shortly after that, Rolando Barclay picked up Sendi’s through ball to serve Lorestho Banks with a low weighted pass, who scored as well to double the lead before James Brent could convert Sendi’s quick one-two to score a stunner making it 3:0 by half time.
In the second half, Nathaniel found Sendi Ian with a clean minus, causing him to score a tap in and open up the second half score sheet with a 4:0 margin over Barron SC.
The visitors suffered a red card when their Center Back brought Atamba down in the box area. FC Minneapolis was awarded a penalty and Nathaniel put it away clinically transforming the scoreline into a 5:0 lead.
In spite of having been off his game for a while, Rolando Barclay finally managed to score a singly goal making it 6:0 in favor of the City Lions.
Atamba was able to display more of his hunger to the watching home fans when he scored two more goals making him the first player to have ever scored 4 goals during a debut match in the club’s history.
The visitors were able to find a consolation goal when Frederick Morlu miss timed his pass giving it to the opponent who looped the goalkeeper after he had stepped off his line.
FC Minneapolis now advances to the next round of the US National Cup, but still, the City Lions will be returning to training this Monday to prepare for their United Premier Soccer League Opener against Granite City in St Cloud Minnesota on Sunday, April 28th.
