Speaking to our website, the Ugandan pointed out the importance of this weekend’s game to the club as a whole.
“We live in changed times. A team must win and show consistence to its fans and supporters. Winning regular season games is good but what matters most is making it to the American Premier League Championships and winning games like that. We have a good opportunity to be champions and must focus on that end alone.” Sendi said today at the club training ground in St Louis Park after a personal training.
He noted that despite the fact that Midnimo is a good team, FC Minneapolis hasn’t lost to them in any of the club’s regular season games, but he insisted that they can’t take that for granted. They have to keep their heads high and focus on winning.
FC Minneapolis had a rough start to the season losing to Minnesota in a 4-3 season opener but came back strong after that going all the way to the playoffs and now playing against Midnimo in their APL Championship game this Saturday, 4:00pm at Louisiana Oaks.
The game had originally been scheduled to be played at 7:00pm in Hopkins but has been moved to 4:00pm in St Louis Park to accommodate broadcast arrangements with Channel 16.
Ian Sendi who has played each league game this season believes his team should have a good game in St Louis Park.
“We have been training in this city. We have a good chemistry with the people here and it’s more like a second home to us. Playing our finals in St Louis Park is a blessing to us and we will do our best to take every chance and write our names on this historical day.” Sendi commented.
Darius Sango has been away from the club’s activities since the team’s clash with Stegmans after aggravating his ankle injury but he is expected to return this week ahead of the club’s biggest game.
Coach Vic believes his squad is solid and in the right mindset for the game.
Jonathan Mulenda is also expected to join the team today at Alabama Park after being out for over a month.
