Today FC Minneapolis announced major changes to the cost of their International Player’s Program. These mainly include a change in the cost of the program fee which has been reduced to allow more players from poor backgrounds to access the program.
“It’s very expensive to run programs like this; that’s why we must charge a small fee to ensure that we process the right documents and travel insurance necessary for the player’s visa process. Without us getting the right paperwork to the player, it would mean that player’s chances of obtaining a visa being jeopardized. Also, having players pay their fee proves to us of their seriousness and commitment.” Ian Sendi.
Under this program, FC Minneapolis does not meet any of the expenses incurred by the player during the process of moving to the United States. The Club simply facilitates the player in the Visa process by providing him with the right paperwork at a fee, but the player is responsible for paying his visa fee, air tickets and any other expenses that may be involved. FC Minneapolis does not have any control over the visa process and therefore can not guarantee issuance of the visa. That decision is under the discretion of the United States Government.
